SPF, which is an acronym for Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, which is is intended to verify whether an email message was sent by an authorized server. Using SPF protection for a particular domain name will stop the counterfeiting of email addresses generated with the domain. In simple words: enabling this feature for a domain name generates a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) that contains the IP addresses of the servers which are allowed to send email messages from mail boxes using the domain. The moment this record propagates globally, it will exist on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Any time some e-mail message is sent, the initial DNS server it goes through checks if it comes from an authorized server. In the event it does, it's sent to the destination address, yet when it doesn't come from a server part of the SPF record for the domain, it's discarded. In this way nobody can mask an email address to make it appear as if you're distributing spam messages. This approach is also called email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Website Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for any domain hosted in a cloud website hosting account on our cloud platform with no more than a couple of clicks. The feature can be found in the Emails section of our innovative Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to activate it is to select one of your domain names from the drop-down list and type in the hostnames as well as the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers which will be authorized to send emails from your email addresses. As an additional option you can even restrict the emails to be sent from your domain name only when it has our MX records, in other words if our servers handle the emails for it, not a third-party provider. This solution offers you the top level of protection, but it's not applicable if only your website is on our servers while the emails for the domain name are managed in another place. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your emails risk-free from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection function comes with all the Linux semi-dedicated hosting packages, so when you host your domains in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you will be able to use the service with ease for all your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a really intuitive interface, which means that you do not need to be proficient in the use of computers to protected your emails. You'll only have to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you'd like to be allowed to send out e-mails from your addresses and shortly after that the new record will be active for the domain that you've chosen. As a further option, we'll also allow you to control your outgoing emails and protect your mailboxes even further by allowing messages to be sent only when the domain involved has our MX records i.e. the emails for the domain name should be taken care of here and not by a different company. Thus you will get even better control and there will not be a chance for anybody to forge your e-mail addresses for harmful intentions.
